where art becomes thread

art has never been just an interest to me—it has always been a quiet force shaping everything i touch. whether i was drafting sentences as a book author, designing pixel-perfect interfaces as a web designer, refining narratives as a copy editor and translator, or orchestrating products as a product manager, creativity has been the heartbeat.

in every role, i discovered that art isn’t confined to galleries or novels. it’s the way you solve problems, how you shape experiences, and how you translate intangible feelings into something real. as the time passed me by, i discovered that how this perspective guides what i’m working on today: building a perfume brand where scent becomes a living artwork.

scented memories: a flashback in fragrance

some memories never fade—especially the ones scented in childhood wonder.

i still remember being in kindergarten when my mother brought home a bar of honey soap from a small neighborhood stall. its golden sweetness stayed with me long after the soap was gone, an aroma etched into my memory like a hidden treasure.

that was the beginning.

i became fascinated by the power of scent—how it could comfort, transport, and heal. i started collecting soaps, carefully arranging them in boxes as if they were rare collectables.

in elementary school, homesickness struck on my first day. my mother, in her gentle wisdom, dabbed a handkerchief with Fanbo Gloria 5—a simple perfume in a small transparent bottle with a gold sticker. every time i pressed it to my nose, it dissolved the ache of missing home.

as the years passed, my fascination grew into a quiet obsession. from dupe perfumes and inspired blends to grocery store finds and finally designer fragrances i purchased myself in 2023, i kept collecting. aach bottle was a milestone in my personal journey—a reminder that scent has always been a part of who i am.

crafting a dream

the path to this moment began with curiosity—and a course on Udemy about making natural perfume.

that single class opened the door to an entire world i’d only glimpsed as a consumer. i remember it was end of January in 2024, while still working in Bandung, i enrolled in perfumery workshops in Jakarta, learning the delicate art of blending using fragrance oils, maceration, and the science of aroma molecules.

with every workshop, my conviction grew: i wanted to dedicate myself to building something of my own. i dreamed of enrolling in business school to deepen my understanding of entrepreneurship, particularly in the fragrance industry. for a moment, it seemed i had the perfect plan—i even secured a scholarship opportunity.

but sometimes, life invites you to practice instead of study. by the end of 2024, i chose to step away from my job and permit myself to build a business firsthand. my background as a product manager had already taught me how valuable practical experience is. kearning by doing—by testing, failing, and iterating—can often teach what theory never could.

a canvas without borders

while working as a product manager, i learned the end-to-end lifecycle of creating and launching products. from conception to launch preparation, i saw how much strategy, empathy, and design go into bringing an idea to life.

my past roles in web development and digital marketing also taught me how to build digital strategies that connect people to products. these experiences weren’t random—they were laying the foundation for this new venture.

perfume feels like the ultimate form of personal expression. it’s intimate yet universal. you don’t have to be an expert to wear a scent—it meets you exactly where you are. it has meaning that transcends time, background, or status. that’s why i chose fragrance as my medium.

SIGNA: the beginning of an asteroid odyssey

my brand is called SIGNA—a name that means signature, mark, and trace. it’s a reminder that we all leave something behind: a memory, an impression, an invisible thread connecting who we are to the world around us. SIGNA is my way of distilling that idea into something you can hold, wear, and remember.

the first collection is called The Asteroid Series, inspired by the silent wanderers that drift through space, each carrying a hidden story.

unlike planets, asteroids don’t follow predictable orbits, and they don’t always shine the brightest. they are fragments—shattered pieces that remind us beauty isn’t always whole or obvious. they exist in the quiet spaces in between, raw and unpolished, and that’s exactly what makes them extraordinary.

asteroids fascinate me because they are the ultimate symbols of resilience. for millions of years, they’ve journeyed across the cosmos, untouched and unchanged, carrying the secrets of time itself. in their mineral cores are clues to our own origins—organic molecules that whisper about the beginnings of life. in a way, they are cosmic time capsules, bridging past and future, reminding us that even the smallest particles can hold entire histories.

this collection is an invitation to explore your own orbit—to embrace the parts of yourself that feel unfinished or unexpected. like asteroids, we are all a mosaic of fragments and stories, shaped by collisions and discoveries.

and now, something i've been dreaming of sharing with you: pre-orders for SIGNA open on July 9th. this is the first step in bringing this vision to life, and i can’t wait for you to experience it with me.

stay close—and if you’ve ever felt called to pursue something that seems impossible, remember this:

chase the visions that refuse to let you sleep. they are yours for a reason.
